The Fun-est Toy Store Ever?
Ah … to be a kid again. If only it were possible, but of course it’s not. However, one of the better parts of being a father is enjoying the expressions of shear wonder and excitement on my little lady’s face.
Thinking back I’m sure I’m not the only person whose favorite part of being a kid were the toys. Getting new toys for Christmas, getting new toys on your Birthday, getting new toys from grandma and grandpa for no apparent reason, and just merely going to the toy store to see what’s new. This is especially true now that I am an adult and my toys are very expensive, and often take months of hard work to obtain. However, I do get to watch those same feelings of joy from my daughter playing with her toys.
I love taking my little lady to the toy store and watching her scurry around and discover new toys (although I wish she had a job some days). Given my philosophy with the Amish Road Show it’s important to me to shop locally and support independent retailers as much as possible. Fortunately, Ephrata has just such a place called “The Fun-est Toy Store Ever”. It’s located right in downtown Ephrata, Pa in the old Sprecher Hardware building. A place were I went as a kid to browse for toys. Things change over time, but it is an absolute joy to walk into this historic landmark with my daughter just like my parents did with me.
In our video below we take a look around The Fun-est toy Store Ever and interview owner Melissa Palermo. Melissa was born and raised in Ephrata, and stills lives there today. She discusses how her store began, their role in the local community, and what you can expect when you visit The Fun-est Toy Store Ever.
Being “The Fun-est” toy store ever is a tall order, but I think they will meet and exceed your expectations of a great toy store. Melissa’s passion for her store shines and has even earned them the Lancaster Newspaper Readers Choice Award year after year. They were also named one of the top-five toy stores nation wide by a reputable travel blog.
So check out the video and photo gallery below, then head over to Ephrata to show your support for this great locally owned and operated independent toy store. After your visit be sure to leave a comment and let others know what you think, or if you have memories of shopping at Sprecher’s Hardware we would love to hear those as well!
